How Many Hours Should I Take?
- Most of the work in college does not occur in class. To be successful, students should budget twice as much time on homework as time spent in the classroom. Budget three times the number of credit hours for online courses.
- Consider work, family, and other obligations when creating class schedules. Going to school full time (12 or more credit hours in a semester) is like having a full-time job!
- You do NOT need to be enrolled full time to be eligible for financial aid. In most cases, six hours is the minimum to receive financial aid (one exception is for students living on campus).
- Degrees at Rose State have a minimum of 62 credit hours for completion. Plan on taking 15 hours or more hours each fall and spring semester to graduate in two years and 10-12 hours to graduate in three years.
- Start slowly and build up speed. Many students spend their first semester taking fewer classes in order to weigh the experience and see if taking more classes the next semester is best.
