Midwest City, Okla. – Rose State College and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) are pleased to announce the 2017 Emergency Management Summit on September 18-20, 2017 at the Rose State College Hudiburg Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
The Summit is the only conference in the nation to bring four of the past five National FEMA Directors to the stage to share their experiences during the biggest disasters of the last 25 years. Never before have so many experts of this magnitude been together alongside state and local emergency management directors for an interactive dialogue around disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the Oklahoma City Bombing, 9/11 attacks and Northridge Earthquake.
Notable world class speakers include James Lee Witt, Joe M. Allbaugh, Michael D. Brown, and R. David Paulison who have all served in the capacity of Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency from 1993 to 2009.
"We are excited to be a part of this momentous event with Rose State College," said OEM Director Albert Ashwood. "Each disaster highlighted will demonstrate how the emergency management profession evolved, taking great strides forward through the years."
The theme of the 3-day Summit is "Observations from Ground Zero," and sessions will provide insight into what went on behind the scenes of major emergency management responses as well as how those events shaped the profession of emergency management.
The Summit is intended for emergency management professionals, first responders from all fields, business professionals, human resources and students.
"When tragedy strikes, our community's readiness often relies on the emergency management personnel in the field," stated Jeanie Webb, President of Rose State College. "Rose State is proud to be a host for this Summit which will allow experts to share their experiences and provide amazing insight into the future of this growing profession."
