Dr. Jeanie Webb joined the Rose State College Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter officers and advisors at the Catalyst Convention in Denver, CO.
Rose State College President Dr. Jeanie Webb is one of 13 college presidents recognized by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) with the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction.
The prestigious award is given to community college presidents and CEOs who have shown support of student success initiatives leading to stronger pathways to completion, transfer and employment. Recipients are nominated by students from their campuses and are only eligible to receive the award once during their careers.
“I’ve had a front-row seat to the resiliency and dedication of our students who have continued to succeed academically despite many challenges put before them throughout the last two years,” Webb said. “Our students are an inspiration to me, and I would not be here today without their support and drive to excel.”
The Shirley B. Gordon Award is named in honor of the late Dr. Shirley B. Gordon, PTK’s longest-serving Board of Directors Chair. Gordon was a founder and long-time president of Highline Community College in Washington.
“These college presidents have made it a priority to keep students engaged throughout the pandemic,” PTK President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner said. “Their nomination is evidence of the gratitude their PTK students feel for supporting them and students like them—even during the most difficult times.”
The award was given during the society’s annual convention on Friday, April 8, in Denver, Colorado.
