Rose State College and Tinker Air Force Base Forge Strategic Alliance to Elevate STEM Education with 3D Printer Donation Published January 23, 2024

Group of PeopleRose State College and The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex (OC-ALC) at Tinker Air Force Base (AFB) have formalized a strategic alliance to advance STEM education and enhance additive manufacturing instruction. This partnership was recently celebrated with a donation from the Tinker REACT Lab and a ceremonial signing.

The Tinker REACT Lab generously donated a cutting-edge 3D printer, the Project860 Pro binderjet, symbolizing the shared commitment of both institutions to advance STEM education in Oklahoma. This state-of-the-art 3D printer is a significant asset for Rose State College, empowering students to garner current industry knowledge.

"This is a step toward further expanding access to STEM education," Rose State College Vice President of Academic Affairs Travis Hurst said. "The 3D printer will significantly contribute to our workforce development programs, benefitting both our students and the broader community."

The donation of the Project860 Pro binderjet 3D printer marks a significant stride in advancing instruction at Rose State College. This printer allows the exploration of intricate and geometrically complex structures. Its compatibility with various materials, including metals, ceramics and polymers, provides students with a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing across various industries. This donation opens opportunities for research and development projects, contributing to the continuous evolution of additive manufacturing education at RSC.

"Our donation will help students gain industry-relevant skills and support high-level additive manufacturing instruction," Colonel Brian Moore, Commander of the OC-ALC Tinker AFB, said. "We’re glad to partner with Rose State College to inspire the future STEM workforce."

Enrollment is open for the next Additive Manufacturing class beginning on March 18. Prospective students can register by visiting https://workforce.rose.edu/rose/course/.
