With the continual rise in inflation, many individuals find it challenging to access basic necessities. Many members of the surrounding communities face food insecurity.
The Poverty Simulation is an interactive experience designed to convey the difficulties living in poverty presents. Attendees will gain insight into the daily struggles faced by those living with limited resources, including access to food. This is an opportunity to foster empathy and promote conversations about this critical issue.
“By immersing participants in the realities of poverty, a simulation event breaks down misconceptions and builds a deeper, more empathetic understanding of the barriers that individuals and families face every day,” said Vice President of Rose State College Campus Resource Center Dr. Monique Bruner.
The Rose State College Campus Resource Center exists to empower students with access to necessary resources. This includes the Raider Necessities Food Pantry, available to Rose State students, faculty, and staff up to twice per month. It also provides the Raider Rack Clothing Closet, consisting of professional business attire for interviews, internships, and presentations. These items are intended to enhance wardrobes and are available to Rose State students, faculty, and staff.
Hunger Action Month is Feeding America Network’s annual campaign to raise awareness regarding the ongoing issue of hunger both nationally and globally.
