The 2024 President’s Leadership Class (PLC) Retreat welcomed first-year PLC students and provided an opportunity for second-year students to greet the incoming class.

The President's Leadership Program at Rose State College aims to develop student leaders by enhancing their existing leadership skills. The program offers students a leadership development course, conferences, and cultural experiences. Participants are expected to engage in student clubs, campus events, and community outreach. Additionally, the program builds character through campus mentors and enriches resumes with development activities. The College and Rose State College Foundation support these students.

The annual PLC retreat kicked off on Thursday, August 1st, opening with a greeting from Rose State College President Dr. Jeanie Webb and an activity of “This-Or-That.” Students then heard from Cindy Mikeman, Rose State College's Vice President of Foundation and Resource Development, followed by Travis Lightsey, Rose State College Director of Career Services, who helped students find their motivations and connect with others who share similar motivations.

Director of Student Engagement, Paige Stramski, connected students with resources to be involved with activities on campus, and Emily Wise, Director of the RSC Counseling Center, informed students about short-term counseling services offered on campus at no cost to Rose State students.

Students had a great time connecting with peers from different backgrounds. They were introduced to their small groups, which included an advisor and both first- and second-year students. The retreat concluded with the PLC participants enjoying a fun-filled evening of dancing and mingling at the Silent Disco.

The President’s Leadership Class at Rose State College comprises a select group of students from across Oklahoma. After successfully completing the panel-interview process, these students receive scholarships and are case-managed by a team of dedicated advisors. For more information and to apply, visit rose.edu.
