Rose State College and Broken Arrow Public Schools (BAPS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish an innovative partnership that will allow high school students completing the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) curriculum to earn college credits at RSC. This collaboration is aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and opening new career pathways in aviation for students in Broken Arrow.
Partnership Goals
The primary objective of the partnership is to provide high school students with the opportunity to earn college credit upon successful completion of the AOPA curriculum. In doing so, the partnership will:
Academic Course Credit
Students who complete the four-year AOPA curriculum will be eligible to receive the following credits at Rose State College:
For students completing the 11th and 12th-grade years of the AOPA curriculum, they will earn:
Instructor Qualifications and Support
Instructors teaching the AOPA curriculum at Broken Arrow Public Schools will be hired as adjunct faculty at Rose State College, ensuring they meet the college’s academic standards. These instructors will also receive ongoing mentorship and supervision from RSC mentor teachers to maintain instructional quality.
Credit for Prior Learning
In addition to academic credits, students who successfully obtain the FAA Part 107 or FAA Private/Commercial License, or pass the FAA Private Pilot Written Knowledge Test or FAA Instrument Rating Written Test, will be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning at Rose State College.
