Rose State College and the Chickasaw Nation

Rose State College and the Chickasaw Nation signed a memorandum of agreement on August 5, 2024.

The collaboration was formalized by Rose State President Dr. Jeanie Webb and the Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby. This partnership aims to memorialize the Chickasaw Nation’s intention to provide academic, cultural, career, and social support to Chickasaw students attending Rose State College.

“We are proud to collaborate with the Chickasaw Nation Department of Education to support students in their academic and cultural endeavors,” said Dr. Webb, President of Rose State College. “The memorandum of agreement will provide an on-campus representation from the Chickasaw tribe for social support and mentoring opportunities.”

The collaboration between Rose State College and the Chickasaw Nation intends to maximize the retention and graduation rates of students at the College. By starting their higher education at a community college, students can save on tuition costs and then complete their bachelor’s degrees at a four-year university, confident that their hard-earned credits will transfer.

“We are pleased to work with Rose State College to enhance the higher education experience of Chickasaw students,” said Governor Anoatubby. "This agreement enables the close cooperation needed to help ensure Chickasaw students attending Rose State College have access to the resources and support needed to help them achieve their educational goals. It also offers additional cultural and social opportunities which help broaden the perspective of students and improve their prospects for long-term success."
