Rose State College and the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) announced the signing of two articulation agreements that allow Rose State’s students in high-tech-related associate degree programs to transfer seamlessly into UMGC’s bachelor’s programs.

The agreements pertain to Rose State College students enrolled in the Associate of Science in Business or the Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Technology with the Database Developer Certificate option, which can transfer into a complimentary bachelor’s degree program at UMGC.

“We are proud to collaborate with the University of Maryland Global Campus to present students with more opportunities to expand their knowledge and network,” said Jeanie Webb, President of Rose State College. “The articulation agreements create a clear pathway for students to earn their bachelor’s degree in a growing field of study.”

By starting their education at a community college, students can save on tuition costs and then complete their bachelor’s degrees at a four-year university, confident their hard-earned credits will transfer.

“We are excited to work alongside Rose State College to eliminate hurdles and help students gain the skills necessary to compete for jobs in high-demand fields,” said Gregory Fowler, president of UMGC. “Making the pathway predictable, less cumbersome, and less expensive, is a recipe for success in their educational journey and their career.”

Under the agreements, students are eligible to apply for UMGC scholarships and receive an application fee waiver and a tuition discount.

UMGC also offers a standard discounted tuition rate to all active-duty military servicemembers. More than half of UMGC’s 90,000+ students are military-affiliated.

“We are pleased that UMGC is providing this educational pathway for Rose State College students.  This partnership with UMGC is exciting”, said Charles DeSassure, who leads the business and information technology division at Rose State.
