Rose State College Appoints Jeff Conkin as Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences Published August 9, 2024

Rose State College announces the appointment of Jeff Conkin as the new Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences. With a wealth of experience and commitment to academic excellence, Mr. Conkin is set to further elevate the college's educational standards and student success.

Mr. Conkin's impressive background in academia and leadership includes earning a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in English with an emphasis in Composition from the University of Central Oklahoma. His professional journey has seen him take on significant roles at Rose State College and Oklahoma City Community College, including adjunct English professor, academic advisor, and associate dean.

Mr. Conkin has demonstrated a deep dedication to providing an inclusive and innovative learning environment throughout his career. His experience includes working closely with students of all backgrounds and skill levels, helping them gain confidence and express themselves effectively. His roles in academic advising, centralized enrollment, and program coordination have contributed to the holistic development of students.

In his previous positions as interim Associate Dean of Humanities and later as Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Mr. Conkin navigated numerous challenges while achieving significant milestones. His tenure included the merging of divisions, the implementation of a new Learning Management System, and the effective management of faculty and adjunct staff. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and involvement in various committees showcase his resilience and adaptability.

Mr. Conkin's vision for Rose State’s Liberal Arts and Sciences department aligns with the College's mission to provide exceptional education and support to its students.
