The Journal Record announced Dr. Emily Stacey, distinguished political science professor at Rose State College, has been selected as one of the 25 influential individuals on its 2024 Top Leader in Education list. Dr. Stacey will be honored in a special feature in the Journal Record on September 18, recognizing her significant contributions to education.
A valued Rose State College faculty member since 2014, Dr. Stacey serves as the facilitator of the Political Science Book Club and co-facilitator of the Political Science Colloquia Series. She is dedicated to teaching her students the importance of civic participation and political engagement. Her mission is to instill a passion for advocacy and civic involvement. Dr. Stacey achieves this goal by inspiring students to vote, actively participate in democracy, and advocate for their beliefs.
Dr. Stacey earned her Ph.D. in Political and Cultural Studies from Swansea University in Wales, UK. Before that, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with concentrations in International Relations and Philosophy, and her Master of Arts in Political Science at the University of Central Oklahoma. Dr. Stacey's extensive education has equipped her with a deep understanding of political systems and cultural dynamics, which she brings into her lessons at Rose State College.
In 2023, Dr. Stacey was named a DaVinci Fellow by the DaVinci Institute, an honor that highlights her innovative contributions to higher education and her commitment to advancing academic disciplines. Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Stacey is the creator and co-host of the "Not My Generation" podcast, where she and Rose State Professor James Davenport discuss political issues from diverse generational perspectives.
