Rose State College is proud to announce it has been designated a Voter Friendly Campus for the 2025–2026 year by the national, nonpartisan organizations Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project and NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. This designation recognizes Rose State College’s commitment to maintaining a culture of democratic engagement and empowering students to participate in the electoral process.

Rose State is among a select group of 272 colleges and universities across 39 states and the District of Columbia that earned this cycle's Voter Friendly Campus title. Colleges and universities were evaluated based on their efforts to register, educate, and mobilize student voters throughout the 2024 election season and their broader commitment to institutionalizing civic engagement as a core part of student life.

“The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy, and it is our responsibility as educators to ensure that students are informed, empowered, and ready to make their voices heard,” said Dr. Emily Stacey, professor and coordinator of political science at RSC. “We are honored to be recognized as a Voter Friendly Campus and will continue working to cultivate civic learning and democratic engagement throughout our college community.”

As part of the initiative, Rose State College submitted a comprehensive action plan outlining strategies to increase student voter registration, provide access to nonpartisan voter education, and create inclusive opportunities for civic engagement. In 2024, Rose State hosted a series of successful events, including voter registration drives, candidate information forums, Constitution Day activities, and partnerships with local organizations to offer students voting and civic participation resources.

These efforts have paid off, increasing student voter turnout and reinforcing the importance of lifelong civic responsibility. The college’s continued commitment to breaking down barriers to voting comes at a crucial time for higher education and democracy more broadly.

The Voter Friendly Campus designation is more than just an honor—it reflects Rose State College’s ongoing dedication to preparing students to be informed and engaged citizens who can shape their communities through active participation in democracy.
