Rose State College is proud of our students – past and present. We’re excited to introduce you to the next Raider in our “Glad I Chose Rose” series, highlighting Rose State College alumni!

Meet Gary King. Class of 2023.

Gary grew up in the Harrah/Choctaw area and has known about RSC for years.

Gary said, “Rose State College gave me a second chance to prove to myself that I could finish my degree.”

At RSC, Gary joined the Data Science and Analytics Club and eventually served as president. He enjoyed leading the club, meeting new people, collaborating on projects, and sharing ideas.

Gary credits Dr. Andrea Xeriland with impacting his RSC journey. She helped him strengthen his STEM skills and encouraged him to pursue a position in the department, which boosted his confidence and experience.

One of Gary’s favorite memories was when the Data Science Club hosted the 76th Software Wing from Tinker Air Force Base. “We had a big turnout, and it felt good seeing so many STEM students get exposure to real career paths and opportunities,” Gary said.

After graduating from RSC in 2023, Gary transferred to the University of Oklahoma (OU) where he will graduate this December 2025 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.

Today, Gary works as a Software Engineer Intern at Zden Technologies while completing his bachelor’s degree. He is grateful for the connections he made at RSC, which allowed him to find this internship.

Gary recommends RSC to others. “Whether you’re starting fresh or looking for a second chance, Rose State is a welcoming and affordable place to get back on track and build confidence in yourself again.”
