Rose State College proudly celebrates STEM alumnus Princeton Niblack for earning the selection as a 2025 Fleming Scholar at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF). This prestigious program accepts only 15 students from across the state each year, making Princeton’s achievement a significant honor.
Balancing Science and Service
Princeton continues to make an impact both academically and professionally. While pursuing his four-year degree at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), he also works in the Rose State Admissions Office, where he helps prospective students navigate their college journey. His selection for the Fleming Scholar Program showcases his dedication to science, education, and service.
“Princeton is a fantastic student who is hardworking and dedicated to his studies. He has a keen mind for scientific research and will be a great addition to the Fleming Research Scholar Program,” said Dr. Hurst, RSC professor and Life Sciences department coordinator. “I could not possibly be prouder of him, or more excited for him, earning this opportunity.”
About the Fleming Scholar Program
Since 1956, the Fleming Scholar Program has trained Oklahoma’s future scientists through hands-on, intensive summer research experiences. This 8-week, paid opportunity places students in cutting-edge biomedical research labs, where they work one-on-one with senior scientists and dive into meaningful research projects.
As a Fleming Scholar, Princeton will:
- Conduct laboratory-based research guided by a dedicated mentor
- Attend weekly scientific seminars and professional development workshops
- Participate in social and cultural events with fellow scholars
- Collaborate with his mentor to write a project abstract
- Deliver a formal scientific presentation on his research findings
- Celebrate his achievements at a recognition luncheon
OMRF also supports scholars with free weekday breakfasts, 24-hour gym access, parking, and dorm-style housing for those who live over 40 miles from the facility.
Driving Innovation and Discovery
By joining the Fleming Scholar Program, Princeton steps into a tradition of scientific discovery and innovation. His work this summer will contribute to real-world efforts in biomedical research, potentially advancing treatments for human diseases. At the same time, he will gain invaluable experience that could shape his future in science.
Rose State College applauds Princeton Niblack’s hard work, ambition, and excellence. We look forward to seeing the discoveries he helps bring to life and the inspiration he continues to provide to the Rose State community.
