Computer & Information Technology – Database
Program Goals & Outcomes
The Computer & Information Technology Program supports two goals: (1) To provide an educational avenue for students to upgrade their computer skills and knowledge as technical developments occur in the workplace; and, (2) to prepare students to assume employment in a position with responsibilities in computer and information technology.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Create algorithmic solutions to problems and data structures;
- Apply object-oriented procedures to problems and data structures;
- Use various programming and query languages; and
- Construct projects that meet user-based design and integrity requirements.
The certificate is designed to:
- Prepare to enter the workforce immediately upon completion;
- Refresh the skills of students in the database field; and
- Provide more advanced and current knowledge to enhance a student’s potential for promotion.
The courses within the certificate may be applied to an AAS Degree where students may be eligible to receive both a certificate and an AAS Degree.
