Rose State College, in partnership with deadCenter University, is proud to announce the second iteration of its immersive, two-weekend screenwriting experience: Screenwriting Workshop: From Page Polish to Pitch Perfect. Open to participants ages 16 and up, this intensive program is designed to elevate storytelling skills, from crafting powerful scenes to delivering compelling pitches, through hands-on guidance from industry professionals.
Created for both emerging and experienced writers, this workshop provides a rare chance to grow your craft through professional mentorship, collaboration, and real-world screenwriting practice. Participants will leave with sharpened skills, refined stories, and a stronger sense of how to bring their ideas to the screen.
Leading the workshop once again is RSC Professor Marcus Mallard, who will provide instruction, mentorship, and individualized coaching throughout the program.
A Two-Weekend Creative Experience
Weekend One: Building the Foundation
Participants will:
- Establish a strong grounding in screenwriting fundamentals
- Work in small, mentor-led groups
- Refine a short film script or polish up to a five-page scene from a feature project with one-on-one feedback from professional screenwriters
Weekend Two: Shaping the Story & Perfecting the Pitch
Writers will:
- Learn the essential building blocks of short-film structure
- Develop confident and compelling pitching skills
- Collaborate with mentors to create a polished pitch for an original 5–7 page short film
The workshop concludes with participants presenting their final pitches. One short film pitch will be selected for full production on the Rose State College campus during the summer 2026 production camp, held as part of the deadCenter University + Rose State College Teen Film Workshop. This unique opportunity allows one writer to see their vision come to life from concept to on-campus production.
Space is limited. Participants are encouraged to apply today.
