Dr. Emily Stacey, Professor of Political Science and Program Coordinator, has been named to Cohort Four of the ENACT Faculty Fellowship, joining a prestigious national network of educators committed to advancing civic learning through direct engagement with the legislative process.
Dr. Stacey represents Oklahoma in the new cohort, which includes fellows from institutions in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, Tennessee, Texas, and Nevada. These faculty members will teach experiential, state-focused courses that empower students to engage with lawmakers, analyze policy, and become active participants in democracy.
“We are extremely proud of Dr. Stacey and her continued leadership in civic engagement,” said Jeff Conkin, Dean of RSC Liberal Arts & Sciences. “Her appointment as an ENACT Faculty Fellow reflects her innovative teaching and commitment to preparing students to lead and serve in a democratic society.”
Dr. Stacey participated in a professional workshop hosted by Brandeis University this May, joining other new and experienced ENACT Faculty Fellows, program staff, and guest speakers. Fellows also received full access to the ENACT online network, a national resource for civic educators.
At Rose State College, Dr. Stacey has developed a robust civic engagement platform. She launched “Advocacy Day” in 2021—an annual event that brings policymakers, journalists, and nonprofit leaders to campus to educate students on advocacy skills and pressing public issues. In collaboration with the Oklahoma Civic Learning Coalition, this initiative has expanded to include CivicsCon, a statewide civic education event hosted on campus.
In addition to her extensive work with campus programming, Dr. Stacey has earned recognition as a 2023 DaVinci Institute Fellow, an honor awarded for excellence and innovation in teaching. Her academic research explores topics ranging from digital extremism to nationalism and global politics, with several published works to her name.
We celebrate Dr. Stacey’s selection as a significant milestone for both her professional achievements and the college’s growing impact on civic education in Oklahoma and beyond.
