Rose State College students and staff members attended an award ceremony on April 9 that honored four RSC students for their outstanding academic achievement during the 2025-2026 school year.
The Oklahoma House of Representatives hosted the ceremony in its chamber inside the Oklahoma State Capitol. Students sat on the floor and received their certificates at the front of the chamber.
RSC President Travis Hurst nominated the following four RSC students: Brooklyn White, Drake Dotson, Kristina Jackson, and Jaiden Size.
“Recognizing the academic achievements of RSC students at the state level is very important,” said RSC President Travis Hurst. “Our students and faculty work year-round to promote the value of education and its importance in getting our students ready for their next step.”
Brooklyn White and Drake Dotson received the Oklahoma Association of Community College (OACC) President’s Tuition Waiver. This $1,000 scholarship is split between the fall and spring semesters. The students received certificates for the award.
Kristina Jackson and Jaiden Size earned recognition as members of the All-Oklahoma Academic Team. The college presidents nominate students who maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 and graduate during the 2025-2026 school year. Phi Theta Kappa sponsors this group, and the students receive certificates and medallions for their work.
Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Kirby Harzman and Director of Student Engagement Paige Stramski also accompanied the students to the State Capitol.
“Seeing our students recognized for their dedication is always a full-circle moment,” said Paige Stramski. “We see the students come in on day one as freshmen, watch their growth throughout the academic year, and then get to cheer them on when they succeed. It’s the best part of the job!”
