NSCA Certified Personal Trainer
Program Goals & Outcomes
Start your fitness career with the NSCA Certified Personal Trainer micro-credential. This micro-credential combines a prep course for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) exam, passing the NSCA CPT exam, and current CPR/AED certification by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. It is earned by completing HPER 2633 Principles of Personal Training at Rose State College or the Rose State NSCA CPT prep course, passing the NSCA CPT exam, and obtaining CPR/AED certification.
All micro-credentials are fully stackable with all other academic programs, allowing students to build customized pathways toward certificates, associate degrees, or even bachelor’s degrees.

- Successfully complete HPER 2633 Principles of Personal Training OR the Rose State NSCA CPT Prep Course.
- Maintain a current CPR/AED certification by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Pass the NSCA CPT exam. The exam includes 140 scored and 15 non-scored multiple-choice questions covering Client Consultation/Fitness Assessment, Program Planning, Techniques of Exercise, and Safety, Emergency Procedures, and Legal Issues. A passing grade of 70% is required in each domain.
Upon completion, participants earn a digital badge to showcase their expertise in personal training and CPR/AED certification.
