History

Rose State College opened in the fall of 1970 as Oscar Rose Junior College with a bold vision: provide higher education opportunities for the surrounding community. The campus began with one building and a small group of students. Fifty-five years later, the campus now stretches across 121 acres, offers a 20:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and serves as a hub of academic excellence for Oklahoma and beyond.

Academic programs now align closely with workforce needs, ensuring graduates leave prepared for meaningful careers in a rapidly changing world. Each initiative builds on the tradition of excellence established since 1970.

Rose State College recently introduced the first bachelor’s degree program, marking a historic milestone in academic offerings. This expansion opens new doors for students to pursue advanced education without leaving the supportive environment of Rose State College.

Significant investments have also transformed Health Sciences programs. Updated labs, modern simulation technology, and expanded clinical partnerships now prepare healthcare students with the real-world skills demanded by hospitals, clinics, and medical centers across the region.

As Rose State College marks 55 years of service, momentum continues to grow—strategic planning, innovative programs, and a commitment to student success drive every decision.

The next era of growth carries a guiding truth: “You’ll Be Glad You Chose Rose.” These words capture the pride, opportunity, and promise that define the Rose State College experience.
