Program Goals & Outcomes

Individuals who earn the CompTIA Security+ Certification will have developed the necessary entry-level skills to effectively perform core security functions in IT. This micro-credential prepares students to meet eligibility requirements for many entry-level cybersecurity job roles. There are two options available to complete this micro-credential.

All micro-credentials are fully stackable with all other academic programs, allowing students to build customized pathways toward certificates, associate degrees, or even bachelor’s degrees.

Students must complete the required coursework or training to earn this micro-credential.

Rose State College and other Oklahoma colleges and universities have memorandums of understanding which identify course equivalencies between both institutions. These agreements aid transfer students.

Option 1:

  • Complete Rose State College CIT 2323 Security+ Certification Preparation course with a minimum grade of C.

Option 2:

  • Complete CompTIA Security+ online self-study training course with accompanying labs and practice tests AND complete 40 hours of instructor-led CompTIA Security+ exam preparation training.

Option 1 and Option 2:

  • Complete and pass CompTIA Security+ exam.

After completing this micro-credential, you will receive a digital badge to showcase your skills. This badge highlights your ability to perform essential security functions in IT effectively.

After completing this micro-credential, you will receive a digital badge to showcase your skills. This badge highlights your ability to understand and apply the principles of Information Technology Specialist (Security).

Once you earn a digital badge, share your achievement with employers and on social media profiles. If you choose not to share your badge immediately, you can log in to your Credly account at any time to access and share your badges. To do so, you must:

    1. Log in to your account
