
Rose State College is proud to announce the confirmation of Regent Greg Smith to a second seven-year term on the College’s Board of Regents, continuing his dedicated service and bringing extensive leadership experience in aerospace, military operations, and strategic planning.
Prior to his work in the private sector, Smith served as an officer and pilot in the United States Air Force, with operational flying experience in B-2 and B-52 aircraft, as well as T-37 and T-38 training platforms. His military career also included program management responsibilities in cyberspace, electronic warfare, acquisition, and aerospace requirements development.
Smith held several key leadership roles during his service, including Advanced Programs Division Chief and Director of Plans, Programs, and Requirements at Air Force Global Strike Command. He also served as a senior operations planner for United States Central Command in the Middle East, Director of Operations for Air Force Cyber Command Provisional, and Special Access Programs Director at Air Force Global Strike Command. Additionally, he served in multiple operational leadership roles, including combat pilot, operational flight duty commander, and unit commander for Air Force electronic warfare reprogramming.
Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University and a master’s degree in management from Central Michigan University. He completed extensive Department of Defense professional education, including Air Command and Staff College, Army Command and General Staff College, Air War College, and Joint Forces Staff College. Smith also earned a certificate in Model-Based Systems Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
