Students, staff, and faculty gathered on April 16 to celebrate the newest inductees into the prestigious Alpha Eta Alpha (AEA) chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society at Rose State College (RSC). PTK advisors Leanne May and Tuesdae Pelt-Willis led the ceremony.
Each fall and spring semester, RSC’s PTK chapter invites new members to be formally inducted into the honor society. Induction allows the AEA chapter and college to recognize and celebrate our members for their academic success and to welcome them into the PTK community, which is built on leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and service—the four pillars of the organization.
“PTK induction is one of my favorite events that our chapter hosts,” said PTK advisor Leanne May. “Seeing our newest members’ achievements recognized and celebrated is so rewarding. This most recent induction ceremony was special, too, as we bid farewell to our outgoing officer team and introduced our 2026-2027 leadership team. Furthermore, the ceremony was well-attended by campus leaders, including the President Hurst, vice presidents, deans, faculty, and staff, along with the friends and family members of our inductees.”
RSC Vice President of Marketing and Communications Cordell Jordan delivered the keynote address. He congratulated the students on their hard work and reminded them that “growth happens in the stretch.” He encouraged them to continue moving forward even if they don’t have everything figured out yet.
PTK will hold its last member meeting of the semester on Monday, April 27, at 2 PM in LRC 230. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend our meeting.
