Inclement Weather & Emergency Communications

Rose State College actively monitors weather conditions and communicates emergencies through the Rave Mobile Safety system, which sends alerts via text, voice, and email to all enrolled students, faculty, and staff. Visitors and community members can opt in to alerts by texting RSCAlert to 67283.

Live Campus Weather Conditions

Stay informed with real-time weather conditions on campus through our WeatherLink station. This tool provides up-to-date data, including temperature, wind, rainfall, and other local conditions, to help you make informed decisions before and during severe weather.

Weather Monitoring & Decision-Making

The College tracks severe weather using trusted sources, including the National Weather Service, OK-FIRST radar systems, and local media. A structured Severe Weather Matrix helps guide decisions about campus delays or closures based on current and forecasted conditions.

Severe Weather in Oklahoma

Peak severe weather season typically occurs in April, May, and June, with increasing activity also seen in October. Hazards may include thunderstorms, hail, strong winds, and tornadoes.

Tornado Safety

In the event of a tornado:

  • Get In: Move inside a sturdy building

  • Get Down: Go to the lowest level, away from windows

  • Cover Up: Protect your head and body from debris

Campus Safety & Shelter Locations

Students and employees should familiarize themselves with designated refuge areas in each building. Maps are posted throughout campus and should be reviewed in advance of severe weather events.

Urgent Rose Alert:

Due to possible inclement weather, Rose State College will be closing at 5:30 PM this evening, April 14th. Classes and activities after 5:30 are canceled.
