- Talk to your doctor about pain-relief alternatives to opioids
- Only take your medication as prescribed
- Do not share medication with friends or family
- Lock up medication and dispose of excess medication properly
- Be aware that counterfeit pills can cause accidental overdoses
- Have Narcan available and know how to use it

Higher Education Prevention Services promotes safe use, safe storage, and safe disposal by offering lockboxes, medication disposal kits, and Narcan for the Rose State College community. HEPS also able to customize training options for departments and divisions or individual students, faculty and staff to meet their specific needs.
